The conversion of this historic CBD pub into a welcoming office and retail space showcases Onsite Projects' expertise in managing commercial refurbishments. 

The highlight of the transformation is the large interior hall, now an inviting retail space filled with natural light. Four small exterior windows were replaced with three large windows, requiring careful cutting through the brick wall and steel beam and plate reinforcement. The existing windows were remediated for full functionality, with a new circular stained-glass window added to the far end of the main hall, complementing the original window facing Newton Road.

Careful soda blasting removed plaster and grout to reveal the original brick of the interior walls. A cover of clearcoat paint preserved the character of the brick while reducing dust and improving the functionality of the space. An old chimney was removed and the main floor was reframed for HVAC ducting and transitioned from multi-level to single-level. 

Widened and reinforced doorways, new concrete floors and rendered brick walls modernised the outdated kitchen and dining area with service integration, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, core drilled through the brick walls. The outdated restrooms were redefined, creating a modern office bathroom and additional office space.

Storerooms and hallways were also reconfigured and optimised for utility and aesthetics, with false walls removed and multi-story areas levelled into a cohesive, single-level layout. Utilities were strategically hidden for a clean finish.

The exterior renewal carefully balanced maintaining the building's heritage while improving aesthetics, security and functionality. The concrete rendering was remediated to match the existing walls and mouldings, custom steelwork used for security bars and a bespoke AC cage, all finished with a fresh coat of paint.
